Well... hello!

So what am I about? 
Originally Russian, I grew up in NZ and went to study fashion in Paris. Moving to Brisbane in 2008, I was certain that I'd have jobs lined up for me, but after 3 months of searching, the best I was offered was ironing samples at a local designer's studio. Desperate, I accepted a job in fashion retail and started dreaming of having my own label while dealing with the stress of sales targets and ever- changing managers.

Having bought some silk and made a few dresses, I decided to apply for a market stall in South Bank. How nervous I was setting it up! The racks kept falling over because of the wind, making me even more anxious. But it was a huge success. Customers loved the colours and the styles, so I went back again the next weekend and the next one... for five years. Then there were some pop up shops, lots of fashion shows and interviews and finally a decision to focus on wholeselling in order to be more flexible, travel and spend more time with my family. But enough history...

What I really am about is working hard to promote local manufacturing, craftsmanship andsustainability in fashion. Making people question how their clothes were made just like they question where their food comes from. I believe that beautiful clothes should be made for women of all shapes and sizes. I am against exploiting anyone to make ridiculously expensive clothes, be it a factory worker overseas or an intern in Australia. Fashion is often unfair, superficial, wasteful. It doesn't have to be. It can inspire, liberate and empower women. 

So let's bring out the good in it.
